HOORAY FOR TOYS R US IN SWEDEN!!!!!!! They are completely awesome!!!
One thing that really annoys me is advertising. But not just any advertising, the worst advertising is kids advertising.
The thing is so sexist I don't know why they don't make it illegal. You must know what I'm talking about. All the senseless things they do like when its dolly dressing up its all pink and there are literally NO boys. Its absolutely outrageous!
And then any advert which features a nerf gun is ALL boys. They even made a version especially for girls, probably thinking they were doing us a favour and being really considerate that they put us girls in the picture. AND the WORST thing is that the boys ones are blue and green and orange, and the girls are pink and purple! You can imagine how disappointed I was (but not surprised) when I realised that there are no BOYS in the girls nerf rebelle adverts and no GIRLS in the nerf one! And another bad thing about it is that they named it rebelle! Like as a girl you have to be a rebel to play with nerf guns! I mean, I thought we were all the same, but I guess adverts think otherwise.
And just think, its only girls who are in the baby doll adverts. Are the advertisers thinking that us girls are the only ones who look after the baby?!!
BUT Sweden has become aware of things like this and in 2012 TOYS R US's catalogue was full to the brim of neutral gender advertising! I am so happy about this.
The world of advertising is more than a stones throw away to being perfect, but its a start....
I hope this country will do something similar so we can set foot on the path to diversity in adverts...
